Justice Prevails: Governor Sani Reinstates Chief Zamuna Deposed By El-Rufai

Zamuna was removed from his position on May 22, 2023, by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, just days before the end of El-Rufai’s administration. Unhappy with his removal, Zamuna challenged the decision at the National Industrial Court in Kaduna.

On June 14, 2024, Justice Bashar Alkali ruled in favor of Zamuna, declaring his removal “irregular, unfair, null, and contrary to good conscience.” The court ordered Zamuna’s immediate reinstatement, including the restoration of his salaries, allowances, and benefits, within 30 days.

In a meeting with traditional rulers in July 2024, Governor Sani pledged to uphold the court’s judgment and reinstate Zamuna, reaffirming his commitment to the rule of law and justice.

During a ceremony at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna on Wednesday, Governor Sani officially reinstated Zamuna as the Chief of Piriga Chiefdom. The governor congratulated the reinstated chief and urged him to govern without bias or discrimination.

“We are committed to upholding justice and fairness in all our actions,” Governor Sani said. “This reinstatement is an opportunity for reflection and a chance to strengthen leadership by learning from past actions.”

Zamuna expressed his gratitude to Governor Sani, describing him as a blessing to Kaduna State. “Your leadership has brought peace and stability to our state. Your commitment to justice and fairness is deeply appreciated,” Zamuna said.

Governor Sani emphasized that his administration is dedicated to the rule of law, due process, and fostering peace and unity in Kaduna State.
