Kano Vigilantes Arrest Two Suspects for Armed Phone Snatching

Two suspected phone snatchers have been arrested by local vigilantes in the Guringawa area of Kumbotso Local Government, Kano State.

The suspects, identified as Dini Auwal and Naziru Abubakar, were caught on Tuesday after reportedly robbing a married woman at knifepoint while she was returning home.

Speaking to reporters, the victim recounted how the assailants confronted her and demanded her phone while threatening her with weapons resembling knives. “I handed over my phone because I valued my life more,” she said.

According to the vigilantes, the arrest was the result of weeks of surveillance following numerous complaints from residents who claimed they had been harassed and robbed by the same duo.

Ado Saleh Guringawa, who spoke on behalf of the local vigilante commander, said the suspects had been monitored closely and were eventually apprehended in the act.

“They’ve been causing fear along the Sheka to Guringawa axis. Thankfully, our men were present when they attacked this woman,” Saleh explained.

He also confirmed the recovery of the stolen phone along with other items believed to have been taken from previous victims.

Saleh assured the public that the suspects would be handed over to the police for thorough investigation and prosecution, reiterating the vigilante group’s commitment to supporting law enforcement and ensuring community safety.
