Kidnappers Taking Over Edo – Activist Laments
The recent spate of kidnap cases in Edo State has been described as alarming even as the government has claimed to be doing enough that would yield positive results.
Leftist Osazee Edigin, the immediate past Public Relations Officer, Edo Civil Society Organization, EDOCSO, in a statement sent to DAILYPOST in Benin City, the state capital, alleged that with the recent kidnapping incident involving a sienna bus in Edo Central, kidnappers are having a field day in the state.
“The government is keeping mute about it. A full load of Sienna passengers kidnapped some days ago have all been killed after collection of ransom from family members. The primary responsibility of the government is the protection of lives and property, either way, we slip into the state of nature.

“Passengers are picked up like snails on the Benin-Auchi Expressway and Ahor-bypass corridor which is about a 30-minute drive to government house and headquarters of security agencies without resistance. If a head of service can be abducted, who then is safe”
“Is it that the government is at a loss on what to do about the situation or it is not bothered about it. Will deployment of technology not help this point in time instead of relying on crude approaches?
“Should we not seek for security experts outside Nigeria, What is happening to the security votes?
“Can we not pool funds together to achieve what it takes to protect our lives and property hence it appears the government has left us to our fate. We are under siege,” it added.
