Kumuyi’s Remarkable Love Story: Meeting Esther at 65 and Finding True Happiness
Speech at the Deeper Christian Life Ministry’s “Impact” program in Delta State, Pastor William Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the ministry, shared an inspiring story about meeting his wife, Esther, when she was 65 years old. The event, reported by P. M. News on August 24, 2024, shed light on Kumuyi’s journey of love and faith.
During his lecture on “The Decision and Determination to Stand Out,” Kumuyi recounted how he proposed to Esther, who had never been married before. Reflecting on their relationship, he emphasized that despite societal expectations, love and commitment can flourish at any age. Kumuyi, who lost his first wife, Biodun, before marrying Esther in 2010, described how their union became a transformative and enriching experience for both of them.
He addressed the misconception that people set in their ways or single at certain ages are destined to remain so forever. “Do not be swayed by the cliche that ‘A fool at forty is a fool forever,’” Kumuyi urged. He recounted how Esther had reached various milestones—40, 45, 50, 55, and 60—without marrying, yet she did not let these numbers define her future.
Kumuyi revealed how, at age 65, he approached Esther with a proposal, stating, “God’s desire was for me to wed you.” Despite her initial doubts, Esther ultimately accepted his proposal. Kumuyi praised Esther for her faith and openness, saying, “She prayed and sought God’s guidance, and despite societal judgments, she said yes.”
Since their marriage, Kumuyi has seen his life and Esther’s life enriched in ways he describes as remarkable. His message to young people and those still searching for love is clear: age is not a barrier to finding happiness or fulfillment. The story of Kumuyi and Esther underscores the belief that it’s never too late to embrace love and make significant life decisions based on faith and personal conviction.
Kumuyi’s touching narrative serves as a powerful reminder that true love and happiness can be found at any stage of life, and it encourages others to pursue their own paths with determination and faith.
