List Of Nollywood Actors Eyeing Political Positions In The 2027 General Elections
According to Ireporter Online, the build-up to the 2027 general elections is witnessing a growing wave of entertainers, celebrity businessmen, and social media personalities stepping into active politics across Nigeria, as the line between entertainment and governance continues to blur.
The development shows increasing participation of well-known public figures in the political space, with several of them declaring interest in various legislative and executive positions at both federal and state levels. While some newcomers are just entering the political arena, figures such as actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot, currently serving in the Lagos State House of Assembly, and veteran actor Kenneth Okonkwo, who has previously participated in national campaign activities, have long been involved in partisan politics.
Among the latest entrants is veteran Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola-Salako, who recently acquired the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 1. She confirmed her ambition in a social media post and emphasized her intention to pursue pro-worker legislation and improved welfare policies if elected.
Similarly, Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has obtained nomination forms under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Abuja Municipal Area Council/Bwari Federal Constituency. This marks another attempt at elective office after his earlier unsuccessful bid in 2018 under the Young Progressive Party.
Celebrity nightlife promoter and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Chief Priest, has also signaled his political ambition after aligning with the APC and reportedly securing nomination forms to contest for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State, a move that has generated significant public discussion.
In the same vein, Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has declared his intention to run for the House of Representatives under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), revealing his ambition after registering with the party in Anambra State. He is reportedly targeting the Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency seat.
Former lawmaker and actor Rotimi Makinde is also said to be preparing a return to the National Assembly, expressing confidence that his previous legislative experience positions him strongly for another tenure representing Ife Federal Constituency in Osun State.
Damilola Marshal, daughter of Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate), has likewise joined the growing list of aspirants, with plans to contest a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly. Currently serving as Senior Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism, her campaign is expected to focus on youth empowerment and cultural development.
Businessman Ikenna Iyiegbu, widely known as Ike Cubana and younger brother to nightlife entrepreneur Obi Cubana, has also intensified his political engagement after joining the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), with ambitions to represent Idemili North/South Federal Constituency in Anambra State.
The increasing number of celebrity entrants continues to spark nationwide conversations about the influence of entertainment figures in shaping Nigeria’s political future ahead of the 2027 elections.
