According to reports, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has extended his greetings to Muslims and Christians in the state and across Nigeria as the 2026 Ramadan and Lenten seasons begin. He encouraged worshippers to use the sacred period to strengthen their devotion to God and renew their commitment to serving humanity.

Governor Makinde highlighted that the simultaneous occurrence of the two fasting seasons provides an opportunity to reinforce values of love, unity, and religious harmony. He emphasized that the overlap serves as a reminder of the shared moral principles that connect both faiths and urged adherents to uphold these lessons throughout the period.

The governor also commended Muslims and Christians in Oyo State for maintaining peaceful coexistence and supporting his administration since 2019, which he said has contributed to the state’s steady progress. He encouraged the faithful to pray for the continued peace and development of Oyo State and Nigeria, as well as for those in leadership positions.

Assuring residents of his administration’s commitment, Makinde reiterated that the government would continue to prioritize citizens’ welfare and advance policies that benefit the collective interest of the people.
