On Wednesday, May 15, a woman shared how a Facebook user donated money for her cesarean section (CS) (read here). She claimed her husband objected to the CS, took her home, and gave her herbal medicine. When her condition worsened, she returned to the hospital and gave her husband N240,000 from the donation to pay for the CS. However, she said he left without paying, forcing her to give the rest of the money to her husband’s sister to cover the procedure. The husband allegedly used the money to buy a phone and a dog. After the birth, she claimed he abandoned her in Alimosho General Hospital, Igando.
Responding on Facebook, the husband provided his account of the events. He said his wife’s behavior changed after the generous donation from Obol Jesam Michael. He claimed his wife started shouting at him, prompting nurses and patients to intervene.
He explained that his wife initially objected to staying in the hospital, so he took her home and gave her herbal medicine. When her condition worsened, neighbors informed him, and he arranged her return to the hospital. He said the donor also called him, urging him to agree to the CS to save his wife’s life.
The husband stated that his wife gave him N100,000, not N240,000, which he used for blood, tests, and drugs. He left to request partial leave from his office, returning later to ensure the surgery went smoothly. He denied abandoning his wife and child, claiming he was at the hospital most of the time and was shocked to see her accusations online.
“My wife I love so much. A woman I went against lots of advice to marry. Why will I abandon my first blood?” he said, denying the claims and criticizing the online blackmail. He added that even if his wife sought more donations, he did not deserve the false accusations.
