Manchester City Reportedly Reach Agreement With Enzo Maresca As Guardiola’s Successor
According to Ireporter Online, Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Enzo Maresca to take over as manager should Pep Guardiola decide to leave at the end of the season.
Transfer expert Nicolò Schira disclosed that Maresca has already agreed to terms on a deal that would run until 2028, with an option for a further one-year extension. However, the final decision is said to rest with Guardiola, who is still weighing his future at the Etihad Stadium.
In a post on , Schira noted that “it is now up to Guardiola to decide what to do as Maresca is waiting,” amid growing uncertainty over the Spaniard’s long-term plans.
Manchester City are believed to have quietly accelerated succession planning as Guardiola enters the final phase of his current contract, with just one year remaining. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has been consistently linked with a possible departure after nearly a decade of unprecedented success in English football.
Club sources reportedly see Maresca as a strong internal fit due to his previous involvement with City’s coaching setup under Guardiola and his deep understanding of the club’s playing philosophy. His familiarity with the system is said to have made him a leading candidate for the role.
Should the transition materialise, it would signal the end of one of the most dominant managerial eras in Premier League history, during which Guardiola has guided City to sustained domestic and European success. The City boss, however, has maintained that his focus remains on the current season despite ongoing speculation about his future.
