N19.7bn Approved By Adamawa Govt For Jimeta Shopping Complex Rebuild

The Adamawa State Executive Council (SEC) has approved a budget of N19.7 billion for the reconstruction of the Jimeta Modern Shopping Complex in Yola. The original complex was demolished last month to make way for a new flyover and a more advanced shopping facility.

The decision was made during a Wednesday meeting at the Government House, Yola, led by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, announced that the project has been awarded to three contractors and is scheduled for completion within 20 months.

Dr. Ishaya Dabari, the Commissioner of Commerce, Trade, and Industry, emphasized that the new shopping complex will include modern amenities such as a fire service unit, a police station, a car park, and an administrative block.

Additionally, Commissioner of Environment, Sadiq Mohammed, addressed the ongoing flood crisis in the state, urging residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer locations.
