N75 Million Ransom: Pastor And Family Abducted In Ondo

but this amount was subsequently increased to N75 million, delaying the release of the victims, as reported by Bishop Babajide Bada.

The Amotekun Corps is working in conjunction with other security forces to locate and rescue the abducted family, while local leaders are calling for community prayers for their safe return.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, confirmed the incident involving the Anglican priest, his wife, and their two children, which occurred last Sunday in the Akoko North-East Local Government Area.

According to a source from the community, the family was traveling by car when the gunmen ambushed them and forcibly took them into the nearby bush. “They were kidnapped between 4 PM and 5:30 PM on Sunday while traveling from Ipesi to Ikaram,” Bishop Bada stated, emphasizing that they had not reached their destination.

Bishop Bada further explained that they had initially managed to gather some funds for the ransom but were unable to proceed when the kidnappers raised their demand to N75 million.

Amotekun Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, assured that efforts are ongoing to secure the victims’ release in collaboration with other security agencies, stating, “We are doing everything we can to ensure their safe return.” However, the state’s police public relations officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, mentioned that the incident had not yet been officially reported to the police.

Local leaders voiced their concerns and called on the community to intensify prayers for the kidnapped family’s safe return. Sheik Basiru Aminu, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Akoko North West Local Government, urged residents of Ikaram Akoko to come together in prayer, saying, “They are sons and daughters of our community, and we must all unite in prayer for their safe return.”

Earlier reports also noted a separate incident in Kogi State, where armed men kidnapped nine individuals, including two female students, on the Kabba-Lokoja Road while they were en route to a church convention.
