NAMA Teams Up With Ekiti State To Establish Agro-Allied Cargo Airport

NAMA, Ekiti partner to facilitate new agro-allied cargo airport

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ekiti State Government.

This agreement will facilitate the smooth launch of the newly established Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, according to a statement published on Sunday on the state website.

The statement was titled, “Ekiti Signs Pact With NAMA on Provision of Air Traffic Services at Ekiti Airport.”

The MoU signed at NAMA’s headquarters annex at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos, was attended by top officials from both the Ekiti State Government and NAMA.

NAMA’s Managing Director, Farouk Ahmed Umar, stated that the signing of the MoU, or service level agreement, represents a mutual commitment to excellence and “a shared dedication to delivering exceptional results.”

He said the MoU outlined joint responsibilities, expectations, and standards for air traffic control services.

The NAMA boss noted that this historic event serves as the foundation for a partnership between NAMA and the Ekiti State Government to ensure that both parties work together seamlessly and efficiently for the effective launch and operation of the airport.

Farouk, who was represented by NAMA’s Director of Legal Services and Company Secretary, Mrs Isemiuhonmon Rita Egbadon, stressed that the MoU is more than just a contract.

“It is a symbol of action, cooperation, and shared vision,” he said.

The NAMA boss described the signing of the document as “a pledge to uphold the highest standards of quality and performance by both parties, to foster open communication and transparency, and to embrace credibility and adaptability in an ever-changing environment, given that aviation is a catalyst for the development of any economy.”

He added, “If we uphold the tenets of this agreement, we will be able to reap the fruits of our labour. We shall prioritise customer satisfaction and the success of this project. We are not just signing a contract; we are making a promise to each other and our customers.

“Let us work together to achieve greatness and make this partnership a shining example of collaboration and excellence.”

Also, the Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro, who represented Governor Biodun Oyebanji, noted that the event marked a crucial moment as the state advances towards enhancing the safety, efficiency, and reliability of airspace and air traffic management.

The governor said the state’s Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti is on the verge of commencing full operations.

He expressed optimism that the establishment of the cargo airport would boost tourism, facilitate smoother and safer air travel, and subsequently contribute to economic growth, job creation, and improved connectivity for Ekiti State residents.
