NDLEA Intercepts 1.7m Opioid Pills , Others At Lagos Airport, Gombe
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted over 1.7 million Tramadol and other opioid pills hidden in packs of noodles and other products at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, and in Gombe State.
The agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, stated on Sunday in Abuja that while over 600,000 pills of Tramadol 225mg were intercepted by NDLEA operatives at the SAHCO import shed of the Lagos airport on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th December; 5,960 pills of Rohypnol concealed in 60 packs of Indomie noodles bound for Johannesburg, South Africa were also seized at the SAHCO export shed of the airport.
According to the NDLEA’s press release, a female freight agent named Olaleye Adeola was arrested in connection with the noodles shipment.

In a related development, Akunne Chibuzor Tochukwu, a trader at Lagos Island’s Balogun market, was arrested on Tuesday, December 13th, in collaboration with the Zone 2 Police Headquarters, Lagos, for attempting to export a Tramadol consignment to Dubai, UAE.
