The crackdown, announced by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy for the NDLEA, revealed a multi-faceted approach to combatting drug-related crimes, with arrests made in various locations and individuals implicated in trafficking networks brought to justice.

Among the arrests was a 42-year-old man intercepted while transporting concealed opioid pills to insurgents’ enclave in Banki, Borno state, shedding light on the intricate web of illicit drug distribution fueling criminal activities.

In a coordinated effort spanning Nasarawa, Abuja, Ondo, Kano, Edo, Anambra, Lagos, and Borno states, NDLEA operatives executed targeted raids, resulting in significant seizures and the apprehension of suspects involved in drug trafficking and distribution.

One of the notable interceptions occurred in Nasarawa State, where operatives intercepted a truck transporting a massive haul of cannabis sativa, weighing over 4,000 kilograms. The operation led to the arrest of three suspects linked to the illicit cargo.

Similarly, in Abuja, two individuals were apprehended with a substantial quantity of compressed cannabis sativa concealed in a truck, highlighting the sophisticated methods employed by traffickers to evade detection.

Further operations in Ondo and Abuja yielded additional seizures, with suspects arrested for possession and distribution of psychoactive substances. Notably, a 27-year-old suspect was intercepted with a significant quantity of psychoactive substances destined for the Federal Capital Territory, underscoring the pervasive nature of drug-related crimes.
