Ambassador John Usanga, the Nigerian Ambassador to Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde, has strongly denied comments attributed to him in the media regarding the 2023 presidential election, labeling them as fake news.
Usanga issued a statement to this effect, which was signed by himself and provided to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
Usanga clarified that the comments were falsely attributed to him by a group called the Board of Trustees of the National Executive Committee Members of the Rivers State and the Rivers State Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Coalition.

The statement in question suggested that the annulment of the 2023 presidential election due to Bola Tinubu’s less than 25 percent vote tally was a wake-up call for vigilance.
He expressed that these fabricated comments were disseminated on social and traditional media platforms, and he dismissed them as false and malicious.

In his efforts to counter these false allegations, Usanga called on the general public to disregard the misleading information spread by YouTube channels and other news outlets. He also urged security agencies to identify those responsible for spreading the fake news.
Additionally, Usanga revealed that he is working with his legal team to address the alleged defamation of his character resulting from this situation.
