The recent enforcement operation by the Lagos State Taskforce targeting illegal motor parks and bus stops along Adeniji-Adele and surrounding routes has sparked reactions from residents grappling with persistent traffic gridlock and associated criminal activities.

Led by CSP Adetayo Akerele, the operation resulted in the impoundment of 84 vehicles, primarily targeting commercial bus operators notorious for causing traffic congestion. Akerele emphasized the need for compliance with designated bus parks to alleviate the daily commute challenges faced by motorists and residents alike.

In response to the crackdown, residents expressed mixed feelings, with some applauding the initiative as long overdue in restoring order to chaotic roadways. Others, however, voiced concerns over potential disruptions to livelihoods, particularly among informal traders and operators affected by the enforcement of public space regulations.

The taskforce’s efforts extended to Awolowo Way and Ipodo Street near Ikeja Under Bridge, where similar illegal car parks were addressed, further underscoring the commitment to easing traffic bottlenecks across the state.

The director of press and public affairs for the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, reaffirmed that such measures are integral to enhancing public amenities and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations, promising continued efforts to sustain the achieved orderliness.
