Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu, appointed Hannatu Musawa as the Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy in August 2023. This appointment has stirred controversy regarding her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) status and her eligibility to serve in the president’s cabinet.

However, a video circulating on Facebook in Nigeria supposedly shows a woman vaping and dancing at a party. The claim accompanying the video suggests that the woman is Hannatu Musawa, celebrating her appointment at an event in Nigeria.

After conducting a thorough investigation, it has been determined that the woman in the video is not Minister Hannatu Musawa. The original video, posted by Dior events on TikTok, features a woman dancing and singing to Fuji music, a genre primarily associated with the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria.

It’s important to note that Musawa belongs to the Fulani tribe in Katsina state, which is in northern Nigeria, and Yoruba is not commonly spoken by northerners.

Furthermore, a comparison between Hannatu Musawa’s photos on various occasions and the woman in the video reveals clear discrepancies in complexion, facial features, and style of dress. Therefore, the claim that the woman in the video is Hannatu Musawa is unfounded.
