Police Storm 2 Baba Cult Group Hideout, Gun Down Four Members Of His Gang

In a bid to recover the body of the slain Divisional Police Officer (DPO) overseeing the Ahoada Police Division, Bako Angbashim, officers from the Rivers State Police Command engaged in a raid at the hideout of suspected cultists in Odiemude community, located in the Ahoada-East local government area of Rivers State.

During the operation, four of the suspected cultists were neutralized.

Simultaneously, the command apprehended seven police personnel on allegations of apprehending and extorting a social media influencer in Port Harcourt. Speaking at the Port Harcourt Police headquarters on Tuesday, Commissioner of Police Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka disclosed that three suspected cultists were also taken into custody during the operation.

Emeka said: “On 10th of September, 2023 at about 10:00hours, actionable intelligence revealed that a gang of notorious Iceland cultists, armed robbery suspects and kidnappers, led by Gift David Okpara, aka 2Baba, who led his notorious gang to brutally murder SP Bako Angbashim, on 8th September 2023, were in their hideout in Odiemude forest in Ahoada-East LGA.

“Following the information, the combined team of command tactical units and Area Command, Ahoada, stormed, in an effort to arrest the notorious hoodlums and recover the corpse of the late officer, the hoodlums were battle ready to inflict more injuries and casualties on the Police.

“Immediately they engaged the Police in a gun battle, four of thx notorious hoodlums, who are yet to be identified, sustained fatal gun injuries while others escaped to the forest.

“Three suspects were arrested and a locally made pistol recovered from them. Meanwhile, the suspected notorious criminals, who sustained gunshot injuries were rushed to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, for medical attention, but were confirmed dead on arrival.

“Operations are still ongoing to sustain the efforts to arrest the gang leaders members of his gang.”
