Nigeria’s Tax Landscape Set for Shake-Up as NASS Panel Concludes Reform Work”

The Joint Conference Committee of the National Assembly, tasked with reviewing and harmonizing the Tax Reform Bills, has successfully completed its assignment.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Honourable James Faleke.

According to Faleke, committee members worked tirelessly from Thursday night through Friday and into the early hours of Saturday to finalize the legislative process.

“The Conference Committee, jointly constituted by the House of Representatives and the Senate to harmonize the Tax Reform Bills, has concluded its work,” the statement reads.

“Following intensive deliberations that extended from Thursday night through to Saturday morning, I am pleased to announce that the Bills are now ready for presentation to both chambers of the National Assembly for final approval.”

Faleke extended appreciation to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, who led the Senate team, as well as all members of the Senate and House Committees for their dedication.

“I am deeply grateful to my colleagues on the House Committee, which I had the privilege to lead, for their steadfast commitment to the Nigerian people. Your resilience and hard work have brought this critical task to a successful conclusion.

“Thank you, and may God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

It will be recalled that both the Senate and House of Representatives had earlier passed versions of the bills submitted by President Bola Tinubu. Following final passage of the harmonized version, the bills will be transmitted to the President for assent.
