According to a statement by police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Friday, the police advised the Osun State Government to suspend the election based on intelligence, reports.

In response, the state government cited a court ruling that mandated the election proceed as scheduled for today (Saturday).

Abioye made these claims during a live interview with Rave FM on Saturday, revealing that there was no police presence at the polling centers. “I leave the IGP in the hands of God. Elections are underway in all polling units across the state, but no police presence has been reported so far,” he said.

Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke, after casting his vote, called on the citizens of Osun State to maintain peace throughout the voting process. “Local government elections are the closest to the people, and getting it right begins with electing the right leaders,” Adeleke said. He urged the people of Osun to “come out, vote, and return home peacefully. Let’s avoid any situations where they could accuse us of violence.”
