Addressing newsmen at his palace in Iragbiji, headquarters of Boripe local government area of Osun State at the weekend, the monarch also urged President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector General of Police to restrained the Ataoja from his expansionist agenda in the interest of peace in the state.

The monarch wondered why his counterpart in the state capital attempted to rekindled a settled boundary issue between the two communities around Omu along Osogbo-Ibokun road, which was settled since 1905 and reasserted the State Boundary Commission in 2022.

According to him, Iragbiji indigenes and residents are peace loving in the face of provocation from the Ataoja over land issues, hoping that the monarch would not stretch the people’s patients beyond limit.

“On Tuesday January 23, 2024, on an announcement was made on a private Radio station in Osogbo where the Ataoja laid claim to the land between Omu River which is our common boundary and Boredun which is an Ilase Community on the right and Iragbiji Community on the left on Osogbo/Ibokun road. It is necessary to state that the boundary between Iragbiji and Osogbo had been settled since 1905.

“The boundary between Osogbo and Iragbiji remains Omu River. No amount of intimidation, harassment or threat will allow the People of Iragbiji to leave any part of our Land to the Ataoja of Osogbo who is on an expansionist mission.

“I call on the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Executive Governor of Osun State, the Inspector General of Police, Department of State Security Service and all Nigerians to call Oba Jimoh Oyetunji to put a stop to his unabated expansionist tendencies lest he cause needless communal clash which is not good for our State”, he added.

Efforts to get the Ataoja of Osogbo to react proved futile as he was said to be busy with other engagement in the palace.
