Panic In Haiti: 70 Lives Lost In Brutal Gang Attack – Terrifying Moments Caught On Video!Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille condemned the brutal attack, describing it as “an odious crime against defenseless women, men, and children,” adding that it was not just an attack on the victims but the entire Haitian nation. He stated that security forces were being sent to reinforce the area.
A spokesperson for Haiti’s national police told Reuters on Friday, October 4, that the director of police overseeing the Artibonite department had been replaced. “Reinforcements are currently on the ground to contain the situation, and security forces now have control,” the spokesperson said.
Bertide Horace, a spokesperson from the Dialogue and Reconciliation Commission to Save the Artibonite Valley, mentioned that the gang encountered no resistance during the attack. He added that police officers had stayed in their station, likely fearing they would be outgunned by the heavily armed gang.
Horace explained that many victims were shot in the head as the gang members went from house to house. “They shot at anyone, and people were running everywhere. They killed people, set homes and cars on fire, and left a trail of devastation,” he said.
Human rights organization RNDDH believes the death toll could be much higher, as entire families were wiped out. “As of now, bodies are scattered on the ground, with families unable to recover their loved ones,” the group said in a report.
