Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dele Momodu, over his criticism of Wike’s recent comments concerning the party’s 2027 presidential ticket.

Olayinka accused Momodu of prioritizing his financial loyalty to former PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over the truth. He argued that Wike merely stated a factual position about zoning the party’s ticket.

The uproar followed Wike’s comments during a media briefing in Abuja, where he asserted that the PDP would not hand its 2027 presidential ticket to the North.

Wike had stated: “PDP cannot give the presidential ticket to the North in 2027.”

Momodu, clearly displeased with the comment, responded on Facebook, criticizing Wike’s confidence and predicting that his current bravado would eventually fade.

He wrote: “The PDP cannot send the presidential ticket to the North in 2027. I’m building the PDP, not tearing it apart – Wike.”

Momodu continued:
“History has shown that Wike’s arrogance often collapses, and he eventually eats humble pie. Who made him the Chief Justice of Nigeria to misinterpret our constitution at will? He claims the North should not get the 2027 presidential ticket, all in the name of justice – where was that justice when he lobbied to be Atiku’s running mate?”

He also criticized the journalists present during Wike’s media briefing, saying they failed to challenge what he called Wike’s “hypocrisy.”

On Wike’s feud with suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Momodu questioned Wike’s own conduct in office, saying:
“Did Wike ever allow any governor to govern independently, even those who helped him rise to power? He has insulted nearly all of them. Since losing the PDP presidential primary nearly three years ago, Mr. Project has been unable to move on. In a democracy, candidacy is determined by the Nigerian Constitution, not by the dictates of one man.”
