According to a statement by DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the command’s spokesperson in Ilorin, the state capital, the suspects—John Ndubusi Nbakogu, Toheeb Suleiman, and Bolakale Quadir, also known as Adaka—were arrested with a cut-to-size single barrel gun allegedly used in their criminal activities, along with an android phone.
The arrest followed a distress call received by the command on March 2, reporting an armed robbery incident in the Oko-Erin area of Ilorin. The victim, who was attacked while attending to his traps, was robbed of his Infinix Note 11 handset valued at N150,000.
The prompt response of the police led to the arrest of the first suspect shortly after the incident. Subsequent investigations led to the identification and apprehension of the other two suspects. Additionally, a cut-to-size single barrel gun believed to have been used in the operation was recovered from one of the suspects.
DSP Ejire emphasized that the suspects were responsible for the robbery, based on the investigation’s findings.
The spokesperson assured that the suspects would be arraigned in court to face prosecution. She urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and relevant information to aid in crime prevention and detection.
In his reassurance, the state Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, affirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens. He vowed that Kwara State would no longer be a haven for criminal elements, promising to bring perpetrators of crime to justice while maintaining law and order in the communities.
