Davido’s Dad Is My Adviser Without A Portfolio’ — Adeleke Opens Up
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed the significant influence his elder brother, Adedeji Adeleke, has had on his life, describing the billionaire businessman and father of Afrobeats star Davido as a father figure and trusted adviser.
According to Ireporter Online, Adeleke made the revelation while appearing on Sunday Politics, where he spoke about his family, upbringing and the close relationship among the Adeleke siblings.
The governor said the death of his father created a major void in his life but explained that seeing his elder brother often reminds him of their late father.
Adeleke said he regularly seeks Adedeji’s advice, particularly because of the wisdom and business experience his elder brother has acquired over the years.
He recalled that his brother had, on several occasions, warned him against investing in certain business ventures that he believed would fail. Adeleke admitted that he initially ignored some of the advice, only to later discover that his brother’s assessment had been correct.
The governor said his stubbornness at the time made him reluctant to accept the counsel, but he eventually began paying closer attention to his elder brother’s approach to business.
According to Adeleke, that experience led him to jokingly describe Adedeji as his “adviser without a portfolio,” reflecting the important role he plays in his life despite not holding any official position in government.
The Osun governor also spoke warmly about his elder sister, saying her character and mannerisms remind him of their late mother.
Adeleke attributed the strong bond among the siblings to the values instilled in them by their parents. He described his late father, a former senator of the Second Republic, as an educated politician and diplomat whose exposure to different cultures influenced the family.
He also recalled lessons from his mother, particularly the importance of generosity, sharing and supporting one another.
Addressing suggestions that the Adeleke family has established a political dynasty in Osun State, the governor dismissed the claim, arguing that the family’s political influence is determined by the people and the democratic choices of voters.
Adeleke maintained that the closeness among members of his family has contributed significantly to the public attention they receive, while acknowledging that his siblings have played an important role in his personal and political journey.
