He stated, “Believing that one person, however competent, can govern such a large population alone without checks is unrealistic.” He stressed that a parliamentary system, which allows for a more collective leadership approach, would better serve Nigeria’s interests.

Aregbesola’s remarks align with recent efforts in the House of Representatives, where a group of lawmakers introduced a bill to amend the 1999 Constitution, advocating for a transition to a parliamentary system to reduce governance costs amid declining revenues.
