Rivers Crisis: Oshiomhole Slams Amaechi Over “Disastrous” Rail And Judicial Decisions
According to Ireporter Online, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has sharply criticised former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi over what he described as deeply flawed decisions made during his administration. Speaking during a televised interview, Oshiomhole alleged that Amaechi consistently demonstrated poor judgment and misplaced priorities while in office.
He recalled that the former governor shut down the entire Rivers State judiciary for nearly two years after failing to secure the appointment of his preferred candidate as Chief Judge. Oshiomhole argued that such an action reflected a troubling approach to governance.
The senator further accused Amaechi of mismanaging the country’s railway development during his eight-year tenure as Minister of Transportation. He faulted Amaechi for prioritising the construction of a rail line extending to Niger Republic instead of focusing on major Nigerian cities such as Kano or Port Harcourt, his home state. Oshiomhole questioned the economic value of such a project, asking what form of goods Nigeria intended to transport to Niger Republic.
He, however, noted that former President Muhammadu Buhari gave his ministers full autonomy to carry out their responsibilities, insisting that Amaechi cannot blame anyone else for the outcomes recorded under his watch.
