Rivers Showdown: Fubara Bows, Visits Wike With APC Governors to End Crisis!”

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has acknowledged holding a meeting with the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, along with two sitting governors and a prominent elder statesman.

In a media interview on Monday morning, Wike confirmed the visit, stating, “Fubara came to see me with two governors and an elder statesman. Incidentally, both governors are from the APC. He said he wants peace.”

According to sources, Governor Fubara was accompanied to Wike’s residence by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, and former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba.

Wike revealed that although he received Fubara warmly, he urged him to take genuine steps toward achieving peace. He added that he had informed Fubara he lacks the leadership capacity to effectively govern Rivers State, expressing disappointment over comments Fubara made during a memorial event for the late elder statesman, Edwin Clark.

The FCT Minister further emphasized that Fubara must engage with the Rivers State House of Assembly to resolve the ongoing crisis. He added that Fubara’s current predicament resulted from following misguided advice.

Meanwhile, Fubara has publicly distanced himself from efforts to reinstate him, declaring that his spirit no longer aligns with the position.

Speaking during a service of songs organized by the Rivers Elders Forum for the late Edwin Clark in Port Harcourt, Fubara stated he is not desperate to reclaim office. Despite several speakers addressing him as the Governor and condemning his suspension, Fubara responded by noting that such remarks are unlikely to contribute to lasting peace.

He expressed a preference for a calm and calculated approach to resolving the political turmoil in the state.
