Rivers State Power Shake-Up: Ibas Unveils New Board Chairmen and Key Appointments
The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has approved the appointment of chairpersons and members for eight key boards across the state.
A statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, confirmed the appointments, which include the naming of former Nigerian Bar Association President, Okey Wali, SAN, as Chairman of the Rivers State University Governing Council.
Dr. Sampson Parker, a former Commissioner for Health, will head the board of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, with Prof. Chizindu Alikor retained as Chief Medical Director. Similarly, Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, former chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area and political associate of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been appointed Chairman of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, while Wokoma Amakiri will serve as its Managing Director.
Other appointees include Samuel Ogeh as Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Commission, Tony Egwurugwu as Chairman of the Rivers State Senior Secondary Education Board, and Israel Egbunefu as Chairman of the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service.
In the health sector, Prof. Princewill Chike, also a former Commissioner for Health, now chairs the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme, with Dr. Vetty Agala retained as Executive Secretary. Prof. Adolphus Toby will lead the Rivers State Microfinance Agency, supported by five newly appointed members.
According to the statement, the newly appointed board members will be officially sworn in by the Administrator of Rivers State.
