Bayero, the dethroned Emir of Kano, had, contrary to the directive of the state governor, Abba Yusuf refused to vacate the palace.

According to Daily Trust, at about 4:00 pm on Sunday, young residents marched through the streets of Kano to demand a return of the dethroned monarch.

Some of them lit a bonfire on a major road as they chanted anti-government songs.

It was observed that policemen and other security agents were on ground and there was no move to disperse the protesters.

The protesters, who trooped out after observing a special prayer session, are marching towards the palace, where Emir Sanusi is holding court.
