Sanwo-Olu, Gbajabiamila, And Obasa Welcome Tinubu As President Arrives In Lagos

According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday returned to Lagos after concluding a three-nation diplomatic and investment-focused tour that took him to France, Kenya, and Rwanda.

The presidential aircraft touched down at about 7:12pm at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, where the President was warmly received by top government officials, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, alongside other senior dignitaries.

During his engagements in France, President Tinubu held strategic meetings with global investors, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, fiscal discipline, and ongoing economic reforms aimed at stabilising and strengthening Nigeria’s economy.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, noted that the President used the opportunity to explain the rationale behind the government’s reform-driven economic policies.

The President also travelled to Nairobi, Kenya, where he participated in the Africa Forward Summit co-hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto. At the summit, Tinubu advocated for reforms in the global financial system and stronger economic integration across the African continent.

He further highlighted Nigeria’s potential in the blue economy and expressed readiness to collaborate with Gulf of Guinea nations by sharing maritime intelligence infrastructure to boost regional security and trade.

While in Nairobi, President Tinubu held bilateral discussions with Madagascar’s President Michael Randrianirina.

In Kigali, Rwanda, the President joined other African leaders and business executives at the Africa CEO Forum, where discussions centred on accelerating Africa’s economic transformation through regional cooperation, investment expansion, and cross-border partnerships. He also held talks with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and met representatives from multinational organisations including the International Finance Corporation, APM Terminals, and Winme Group.

The Presidency described the outcomes of the engagements as “notable and highly favourable.”

Following his return, President Tinubu is expected to participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections scheduled to begin on Saturday. He had earlier urged party members and aspirants to uphold peace, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the process, stressing the need for unity and national interest above all else.
