Scandal Unveiled: Mercy Chinwo Reveals Dark Secrets Of Her Music Contract Drama With Eezeetee
Famous gospel artist Mercy Chinwo has provided clarity on the ongoing legal issues with her ex-manager, Ezekiel ThankGod, also known as Eezeetee. In an Instagram post through her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi,…Scandal Unveiled: Mercy Chinwo Reveals Dark Secrets Of Her Music Contract Drama With Eezeetee
Mercy explained that she was not the one who filed the lawsuit, contrary to what has been reported.
“Contrary to the sensationalized stories, Minister Mercy did not take any legal action against Mr. Ezekiel ThankGod (Eezeetee) regarding her music catalog. She has never claimed that the 50/50 revenue split from her DSP earnings was unjust,” the statement stated.
Mercy recalled that her relationship with Eezeetee began when she worked as his backup singer in Port Harcourt. Their professional partnership was formalized in 2017, leading to the release of her hit song “Excess Love.” After relocating to Lagos in 2018 to expand their work, the situation started to change in 2019 when Mercy introduced fellow singer Judikay to their team. However, by late 2019, their professional relationship began to deteriorate.
She revealed that her original contract expired in 2022, but Eezeetee allegedly created a new contract in 2019, which falsely appeared to be the original. The new contract, she claims, granted him lifetime ownership of her music and placed her in “perpetual servitude.”
Efforts to resolve the matter amicably, including an intervention by Apostle Anselm Madubuko, were unsuccessful. During an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2024, Eezeetee admitted withholding $274,000 in digital revenue, which was later recovered.
Eezeetee also confessed to manipulating her contract and later requested an out-of-court settlement. However, he subsequently filed lawsuits against Mercy, Judikay, and the EFCC. The EFCC later charged him with fraud, and an arrest warrant was issued, though it was later withdrawn after his lawyer intervened.
