Sh*ck In Enugu As Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Marrying 13-Year-Old Girl After Viral Video

According to Ireporter Online, security operatives in Enugu State have taken a 30-year-old man into custody for allegedly conducting a marriage with a 13-year-old girl in Amufie, Enugu Ezike, within the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area. The arrest was prompted by a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), which appeared to show an elaborate ceremony involving the underaged girl.

Authorities also reportedly detained the girl’s parents and a woman identified as Ezenwanyi, who is believed to have coordinated and facilitated the arrangement. Their arrests followed a wave of public outrage and online condemnation, with many Nigerians demanding firm action to protect minors and enforce child-rights laws.

Youth groups under the Concerned Igbo-Eze North Youth (CINY) commended the swift intervention of the Enugu State Government, the Ministry of Gender Affairs, and the police. The group stated that the development underscores the state’s commitment to safeguarding children and ensuring that laws prohibiting child marriage and related abuses are fully upheld.
