Shettima Bans Birthday Advertorials, Urges Nigerians To Pray For Nigeria

Vice President Kashim Shettima has appealed to his friends, associates and well-wishers to refrain from organising public celebrations or placing birthday advertorials as he prepares to mark his 60th birthday on September 2, 2026.

According to Ireporter Online, Shettima said he preferred to mark the milestone quietly, with attention focused on issues concerning Nigeria’s development rather than his personal celebration.

The Vice President urged Nigerians and his well-wishers to channel their goodwill into prayers for the country and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Shettima explained that his decision was motivated by the need to maintain propriety and ensure that national issues remain at the centre of public attention.

He appealed to individuals and groups to avoid organising congratulatory gatherings or publishing goodwill messages in his honour across newspapers, radio, television and digital platforms.

Rather than receiving birthday messages and celebrations, the Vice President asked Nigerians to pray for the success of the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms and for sustainable solutions to the country’s security challenges.

He also called for prayers for greater national unity, peace, prosperity and continued progress across the country.

Shettima said his 60th birthday should provide an opportunity for reflection, gratitude and a renewed commitment to serving Nigeria.

The Vice President is expected to turn 60 on September 2, with his decision to keep the celebration low-key reflecting his preference to place national development above personal festivities.
