Spain Release Zubimendi As Arsenal’s Injury Fears Intensify
Spain have withdrawn Martin Zubimendi from their national team camp after the Arsenal F.C. midfielder reported knee discomfort, further intensifying the club’s growing injury concerns during the international break.
According to Ireporter Online, the Royal Spanish Football Federation confirmed the decision on Sunday, stating that the move was taken as a precautionary measure to protect the player’s health. The federation added that Arsenal’s medical team had been fully briefed throughout the process.
Zubimendi, who made a substitute appearance in Spain’s 3-0 victory over Serbia, will now miss the upcoming friendly clash against Egypt scheduled to take place in Barcelona.
The 27-year-old has been a key figure for Arsenal this season, making 44 appearances across all competitions and playing a crucial role in maintaining midfield stability as the club continues its push for the Premier League title.
His absence adds to the challenges facing manager Mikel Arteta, with several first-team players also withdrawing from international duty due to injuries. Among those affected are Eberechi Eze, Gabriel Magalhães, Leandro Trossard, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Noni Madueke and Piero Hincapié.
Spain opted to release Zubimendi early to allow him begin rehabilitation in London, where Arsenal’s medical staff are expected to carry out further assessments at their London Colney training base. The club remains hopeful that the issue is not serious as they prepare for the resumption of league action.
