Speaking during the community’s annual celebration on Thursday, Governor Nwifuru reminded residents of the extensive infrastructural developments already undertaken in the area. He emphasized that his government has invested heavily in projects such as the Information Communication Technology University, with over 20 ongoing projects.

He noted that while the community has only one political appointee, serving as Senior Special Adviser, the investments in infrastructure far outweigh the benefits of numerous appointments.

“You claim the government hasn’t benefited you much, but do you realize how much has been spent here? Five projects alone cost over ₦900 million each, with others ranging from ₦1 billion to ₦6 billion,” Nwifuru said.

Highlighting other achievements, the Governor pointed to the construction of a community primary school, ongoing road projects, and the representation of the community in the local government through its chairman.

He urged the community to balance its expectations, warning that excessive demands for appointments could derail ongoing projects. “Do you want me to stop these infrastructural developments to appoint more people? Your community is already benefitting more than others with multiple appointees,” he added.

To further support the area, Nwifuru pledged to electrify all areas needing power and promised a new town hall, contingent on the provision of land by the community.
