In response to the provocative statement, a mob sought retaliation and attempted to locate and harm Abubakar. Frustrated by his escape, the mob resorted to burning his house and car in Babaruga on the night of January 30. Abubakar’s current whereabouts remain unknown, prompting concerns for his safety.
The Christian Association of Nigeria is actively working with authorities and plans to meet with the Emir of Katsina to ensure Abubakar’s safety upon his reappearance. Christian leaders in the state are appealing for calm and understanding amid the escalating tension.
Venerable Muyiwa Segun, the Vice Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Katsina, condemned violence or disrespect towards other religions, emphasizing the importance of respecting diverse religious beliefs.
Segun confirmed CAN’s active engagement with security officials and religious leaders to collaborate on maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of the community. The incident underscores the necessity for dialogue and tolerance between religious communities to foster harmonious coexistence.
