According to a report by BBC Hausa Service, monitored on Monday, a local source claimed that the terrorists regrouped in a forest on Sunday night, planning another assault on Yargaladima. The source added that the local population is living in constant fear, uncertain about what might happen next. “The terrorists detonated the land mines at night and abducted seven people, including women and young children,” the source alleged.

The BBC report also described an incident in which a vehicle carrying passengers hit one of the planted land mines on Sunday. The driver, who had been returning to pick up more passengers, unintentionally triggered the explosion. This is part of the terrorists’ new strategy to block security forces’ access to communities during their attacks.

An anonymous local explained that these tactics, involving bombs and land mines, are usually associated with Dogo Gide, who is known for using these methods to raid communities along the Dansadau-to-Gusau axis, the state capital.

“The terrorists are invading the Magami and Gusau areas. We have received information that they are regrouping to attack Dansadau and Sabon Salo,” another source said.

Yazid Abubakar, spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, mentioned that he would issue a statement on the incident once he had gathered all the details.
