The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Monday, caused widespread panic in the community. Eyewitnesses reported that smoke was first spotted around 3:00 AM, and although firefighters from the Ede Fire Station were quickly dispatched, the house had already sustained severe damage by the time they arrived.

According to Kola, an eyewitness, the firemen responded promptly, but by the time they controlled the blaze, Kabiru and his family had tragically perished. Only one of the children, a 13-year-old boy, managed to escape.

Ibraheem Adekunle, spokesperson for the Osun State Fire Service, confirmed the incident, adding that the remains of the victims were handed over to the police. The authorities also noted that the fire was reported at 3:21 AM, and the emergency teams arrived swiftly at the scene.

The estimated property loss from the fire is around N200 million, with an additional N500 million worth of property saved.
