Tinubu made this admission during a gathering at the Aso Villa mosque in Abuja on Tuesday, marking the commencement of Ramadan.
President Tinubu urged Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, exercise discipline, display kindness towards one another and their neighbors, and provide support to the less privileged in society.
He stated, “We express gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting us the opportunity to witness another holy month of Ramadan and for guiding us through the elections, enabling us to be Nigerians.
“Yes, times are difficult, but Allah has tasked us with making sacrifices, disciplining ourselves, assisting others, and showing kindness to ourselves.
“May Almighty God, who has blessed us with this opportunity, reinforce our determination; help us in transforming our nation, and extend our compassion to our neighbors.
“We are confronted with challenges such as kidnapping, banditry, and others. May Allah shower His mercy upon all of us, the deceased, and accept our righteous deeds.
“May Almighty Allah grant us strength and a good life to successfully observe the month of Ramadan and to continue worshipping Him faithfully. I urge all of us to persist in praying for our country.”
President Tinubu reminded the Ulamas that God has endowed them with wisdom, knowledge, and compassion to impart to others, emphasizing the significance of teaching forgiveness, patience, and resilience to the faithful, as well as sharing their blessings with others.
“It is within our hearts to make sacrifices and share whatever little we possess with our fellow brothers and sisters. Let us be kind and humble. The sacrifices taught during this period are invaluable.
“May Almighty Allah grant us the privilege and fortitude; not the endurance of hunger, but the strength of character and disposition to love our country and elevate Nigeria. As-Salaam-Alaikum,” concluded the President in prayer.
