“Tinubu Deserves Second Term To Finish His Vision – Ex-Edo Deputy Governor”
Philip Shaibu Backs President Tinubu for Second Term, Cites Economic Recovery and Youth Development
Former Deputy Governor of Edo State and current Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Sports (NIS), Philip Shaibu, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu to serve a second term, saying the president deserves another four years to consolidate on ongoing reforms, according to iReporter Online.
Shaibu made the statement on Friday at the NIS headquarters in Lagos while addressing staff and sports stakeholders.
He said Tinubu’s administration inherited a struggling economy and is implementing necessary reforms to stabilise the nation and lay the groundwork for long-term growth.
“President Tinubu is laying the foundation for economic growth. We are already seeing signs of recovery, and I believe he needs another four years to complete what he has started,” Shaibu stated, according to iReporter Online.
Appointed as NIS Director-General in April 2025, Shaibu noted that his new role has given him deeper insight into the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and sports development.
He praised the president’s support for the sports sector as part of broader efforts to engage young Nigerians productively.
While urging citizens to remain patient, Shaibu called on Nigerians to support the administration as its reforms begin to yield tangible benefits.
According to iReporter Online, Shaibu’s endorsement adds to the growing voices within the public sector acknowledging the early impact of Tinubu’s economic and social policies.
