Tinubu Takes Charge: How The President Personally Led The Daring Rescue Of 38 Kwara Worshippers
According to Ireporter Online, new details have emerged on how President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directly coordinated the security strategies that led to the rescue of 38 abducted members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, located in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. The victims, who were seized during a violent midweek attack, were freed on Sunday at about 3:20 pm through a covert operation carried out by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Security reports indicated that heavily armed attackers stormed the church last Wednesday, firing shots at worshippers and leaving two people dead while several others sustained injuries. The assailants escaped into the surrounding forest with 38 captives, sparking widespread condemnation both locally and internationally.
Insider security sources revealed that President Tinubu personally supervised the counter-kidnap efforts. He reportedly received continuous operational briefings, assessed various strategic options, and insisted that the administration must demonstrate its commitment to protecting all Nigerians, regardless of religious affiliation.
The President’s hands-on involvement was said to have triggered an extensive intelligence sweep, including precise mapping and aerial surveillance coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser. These efforts culminated in DSS operatives raiding identified hideouts within the forests of Oreke Okeigbo in Ifelodun LGA. It was further gathered that the operation received presidential authorization for joint action involving both the DSS and the Nigerian Air Force.
Sources noted that the mission was highly classified, making it unclear whether the kidnappers escaped upon sensing the approach of security forces or were neutralized during the offensive. They also recalled that the area had previously witnessed attacks, including the June incident in which gunmen targeted a marble mining site, killed two police officers, and abducted several Chinese workers.
