Tragic Fire Destroys Multi-Million Naira Cassava Factory In Oyo State (Photos)

A devastating fire recently ravaged a cassava processing factory in Iseyin, Oyo State, causing massive damage to both property and goods, with losses estimated in the millions of naira. Iseyin, located within the Oke Ogun region of Oyo State, was the site of the incident. According to Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, the agency received the distress call at 1:23 p.m. on Monday, 3rd February 2025. Firefighters, led by ACFS Lasisi Banuso, were quickly dispatched to the scene. Thanks to their prompt response, they managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties.

While the factory and its contents were destroyed, including millions of naira worth of goods, the fire service was able to save several nearby structures, including the Iseyin Educational Board building and another cassava processing facility.

Akinyinka revealed that the fire was triggered by an uncontrolled bush and undergrowth fire, allegedly caused by an unidentified individual, which spread to the industrial premises.
