Troops Eliminate Terrorists And Seize Weapons In Zamfara

According to a statement from Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, the operation was conducted by the Forward Military Operations Base in Anka, in partnership with the Zamfara Community Protection Guard (ZSCPG) and local vigilantes.

The operation resulted in the elimination of two terrorists, alongside the recovery of a PKT machine gun, one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

“This successful mission highlights the collaborative efforts of military and other security forces within the Operation Fansan Yamma Theatre of Operations, aimed at ensuring safety across Zamfara State and the broader North West region,” said Abdullahi. “Operation Fansan Yamma is committed to eradicating threats to peace and stability in the North West, and we continue to prioritize the protection of residents’ lives and property.”

Foiled Attack in Taraba

In another development, the Army announced that troops from 6 Brigade Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) successfully foiled a planned banditry attack in the southern region of Taraba State.

Following intelligence reports, troops launched a series of aggressive patrols, ambushes, and covert operations on December 11, 2024, to prevent the attack.

This operation led to the arrest of two suspected terrorists, identified as Terry Waapara and Tobaya Tekura, in Adu village. The suspects were caught attempting to infiltrate the Chachanji market to execute what was believed to be a plan involving kidnapping and other criminal activities.

During the operation, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 magazines, and 26 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. The suspects are currently in custody and are being investigated further to uncover additional details about their network and activities.
