Uzodimma Announces Bid For Imo West Senate Seat

According to reports, the governor announced his decision on Sunday through his verified social media accounts, confirming that he had accepted what he described as a call from the people of Imo West to continue serving them at the national level.

Uzodimma said his decision was driven by a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to the progress of the district. He noted that he had already presented himself before the leadership of the APC and the screening committee for the National Assembly primary election.

The governor emphasized that the senatorial seat belongs to the APC and described himself as a loyal party member seeking to promote the ideals, vision, and aspirations of the ruling party.

He praised the APC for what he called its dedication to purposeful leadership and people-centered governance, adding that party members have a collective responsibility to sustain and deepen the delivery of democratic dividends to Nigerians.

Uzodimma stated that his ambition to represent Imo West in the Senate is inspired by a desire to build on the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration through effective legislation, quality representation, and sustainable development.

His entry into the race sets the stage for a potentially fierce APC primary, as former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha and incumbent Senator Osita Izunaso are also seeking the party’s ticket.

Two weeks earlier, prominent APC stakeholders in Imo West announced that they had purchased the nomination form for Uzodimma and endorsed him as their consensus candidate, signaling strong support for his senatorial bid within the district.
