Uzodimma Remains Chairman’ – Uba Sani Addresses Rift Rumours Among APC Governors

Sani made this clarification on Monday during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, where he insisted that there was no leadership dispute within the forum. His comments followed reports alleging that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma had been replaced as chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah after a tense meeting in Abuja. The reports also claimed the forum had become divided into opposing camps, with some governors allegedly aligning with Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

However, governors loyal to Uzodimma were said to have passed a vote of confidence in him during a meeting at the Imo State Lodge in Abuja, while President Bola Tinubu was reportedly involved in efforts to calm tensions within the group.

Speaking further, Sani, who serves as vice-chairman of the forum, maintained that no leadership change had taken place and stressed that all governors remained united. He noted that political disagreements were normal in a democracy and should not be exaggerated into a crisis. He further expressed confidence that the issue had been resolved, insisting there would be no further controversy over the matter, while reaffirming that Uzodimma remains the chairman and that the forum is stable and united.
