VIDEO: Portable Survives Close Call Just Hours To Child Naming Ceremony
According to Ireporter Online, controversial Nigerian street-pop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, narrowly escaped death on Thursday night after being involved in a lone road accident in Ogun State, just hours before his child’s naming ceremony.
It was gathered that the singer’s vehicle reportedly suffered brake failure while he was driving out ahead of preparations for the ceremony. In a video shared on his Instagram page, Portable recounted that he was forced to steer the car into a ditch to avoid a possible collision with another vehicle, a move that ultimately saved his life.
Speaking in Yoruba, the singer expressed gratitude for surviving the incident unhurt, noting that he suddenly noticed the brake failure while on the road. He also revealed that he had already made preparations for his son’s naming ceremony, including the purchase of two cows, and expressed relief that the crash did not occur while a heavy-duty vehicle was nearby.
Portable further appreciated the timely arrival of his associates at the scene, saying he was thankful to be alive and not a casualty of the crash. The incident comes days after he celebrated the birth of his newborn with his wife, Bewaji, who delivered during his boxing event with Carter Efe on May 1, 2026, and his recent distribution of Ankara aso ebi in preparation for the naming ceremony.
