VIDEO Shows People Peeing On African Child In French Village?
“This is the filth of France, the ugliest scandal of the twenty-first century!!!”
That’s part of a common caption to a disturbing viral video.

The video depicts a nak3d individual of African descent, huddled in a fetal position on the ground. Nearby observers stand casually, while one after another, two Caucasian men and one Caucasian woman approach and urinate on the person on the ground.
The caption continues:
The inhuman and shocking scene of “two men and a woman” urinating on an African child, in one of the French villages, and the child, completely stripped of clothes, lying face down on the ground, while numbers of The French, whose country has always shocked the world with the sophistication of their civilization, are watching this obscene, dirty, and abnormal act, without any sign of intervention from any of them!!!
The video along with its caption has been circulating on Facebook in Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Zimbabwe since early September 2023. Similar instances can be found on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, with various expressions of outrage.

However, does the video genuinely depict “this obscene, dirty, and abnormal act” in a village in France?
Africa Check captured the initial frame of the video and conducted a Google Lens search to trace its origin.
After extensive research, we located a gif of the video on the MakeAGif website. It is labeled “performance PIEDRA de REGINA JOSÉ GALINDO” and was uploaded in 2014.
Further inquiry into the term “Piedra de Regina José Galindo” led us to various websites discussing the life and art of Regina José Galindo, an artist born in Guatemala in Central America in 1974.
Galindo is known for her expertise in performance art, a time-based live action art form.
The viral video depicts “Piedra,” one of Galindo’s works. The figure being urinated on, who appears small and unclothed, is the artist herself, Galindo. The performance took place in January 2013 in the South American country of Brazil.
One interpretation of the work suggests that Galindo “compares the female body to a stone in their vulnerability to violent enactments.”
To clarify, the video showcases a performance art piece in Brazil from 2013, and the individual portrayed as a “child” is the artist. It does not depict the mistreatment of an African child in a French village.
