A Catholic priest who was caught on camera knocking an altar boy during a wedding ceremony has apologized to the boy and his family.

The incident occurred when the priest, frustrated that the altar boy was not holding the microphone close enough to the groom, tapped him on the head. The video of the moment, which went viral online, sparked outrage among viewers.

In response to the backlash, the priest met with the altar boy’s family to offer his apologies. In a new video shared on TikTok, the priest explained that the knock was accidental and unintentional, emphasizing that it wasn’t a deliberate act.

“I’m sorry for what happened. It was not a deliberate act. It was unconscious because the groom’s voice was low due to the microphone’s positioning,” the priest explained.

Surprisingly, the family of the altar boy was unfazed by the incident. The boy’s father revealed that they had not even seen the viral video, and assured the priest that there was “nothing wrong” with the correction.

“I even like it; it’s what you should do. There’s nothing wrong. I’d even blame you if you didn’t do it,” the father said, defending the priest’s actions.

The father added that his son hadn’t reported the knock, as he understood it was a normal correction. “There’s no way he would have told me because he knew I’d blame him,” he stated.
