Walson-Jack Set To Retire As Head Of The Civil Service In August

She made the announcement in Abuja during the Mentoring Marketplace and the unveiling of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) Employee Self-Service Application, noting that the 2026 Civil Service Week would be her last official participation as Head of Service.

Walson-Jack called on federal civil servants to remain committed to sustaining the reform initiatives introduced under her leadership, emphasizing that the progress recorded in the civil service was made possible through the cooperation and dedication of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Reflecting on her time in office, she expressed appreciation to public servants for embracing reforms and contributing to their implementation across the system. She stressed that lasting transformation within the civil service depends not only on policies but also on the commitment of workers who carry out their duties daily.

She further stated that the future of the civil service rests on strengthening institutions and developing capable leaders who can sustain ongoing reforms. According to her, this informed the focus on mentoring and digital transformation as key components of this year’s Civil Service Week activities.

The outgoing Head of Service described mentoring as a vital tool for leadership development, succession planning, and knowledge transfer across generations of civil servants, adding that these values are essential for the continued growth of the public service after her departure.
