Civil Servants Speak Out

Mrs. Bakri, a civil servant in the state, voiced her displeasure, explaining how the announcement derailed her plans to finish work before the weekend.

“My colleagues and I waited until 4 p.m. on Thursday for a circular about a public holiday, but none came. By the time we left work, there was still no word. Later, at 8 p.m., a junior colleague called to inform me about the work-free day,” she said.

She criticized the governor for the timing of the announcement, saying, “Aiyedatiwa needs to run the state with better planning. How does he expect me to travel to Idoani at such short notice?”

Parents Left in the Dark

Seyi Adu, a parent, recounted her experience of finding out about the holiday only after arriving at her child’s school.

“I drove from Ijapo to Aule Road, only to be told at the gate that school was closed because of the election holiday. I wasn’t even aware the election was tomorrow,” she said.

A Pattern of Disruption

The late announcement underscores ongoing concerns about governance and communication in Ondo State. Residents noted that while elections are crucial, better planning and timely communication are essential to avoid unnecessary disruptions.
